The lantern heater looks like a modern table lantern and warms like a small fire: a carbon heating tube inside a tall tempered glass cylinder gives a soft amber glow and gentle radiant heat for the people around a garden or balcony table. The slim black steel frame and square weighted base keep it stable, and a rotary switch on the base selects two power settings (600 W and 1200 W). It plugs straight into a standard UK socket, needs no gas, and a tip-over switch cuts the power if it is knocked over.

Care

Always switch off and unplug the heater and let it cool before cleaning. Wipe the housing with a dry or slightly damp cloth; do not use water jets, abrasive cleaners or solvents. Keep the grille, reflector or glass cylinder and the base free of dust and leaves. When it is not in use for long periods, store the heater (or the cable and plug of a fixed heater) in a dry place.

Safety

Use outdoors in covered areas or in well-ventilated spaces only. Plug it into a correctly installed, earthed, weatherproof outdoor socket protected by an RCD; if you use an extension lead, it must be rated for outdoor use and fully unwound. Do not cover the heater, do not touch the element or grille while hot, keep children and pets away, and unplug it when not in use. Clearances: place it only on a stable, level, heat-resistant table, at least 1 m from parasols, walls, curtains and plants; the tip-over switch turns it off if it is knocked over. For covered areas only - never in rain.
